The Persons

Stig

a former merchant sailor, is now managing a small trucking company hauling goods between Oslo and Gjøvik/Lillehammer on a daily basis. Trucking can be compared to beeing a sailor witch I have been for 5 years around the world. I have also been living in Canada as a working resident. My interests are Internet, transport, imports and studying lawbooks. A lot of time is pasing by, trying to sort out loads of information regarding ancestors and genealogi.

Bibbi

is a trucking dispatcher at LRN Transport in Gjøvik. They have 40 of Norways largest trucks and trailers hauling parts and new cars between Norway and the Volvo Company in Sweden. LRN also have traffic for Volvo thru the rest of Europe as far as both Greece and Spain. Bibbi holds a drivers permit for all categories incl. large m.bikes. She likes the office work and the challenge of Just In Time transport regarding LRN's customers.

Erik

is educated in Logistics and has a degree in national/international transportation and shipping. He is also a certified trucker and a certified heavy machinery operator. He has been branch manager for Toten Transport in Oslo. Toten Transport, is one of Norway's largest trucking firms with the main facilities in Raufoss. Erik is now empl. at Frans Maas in Oslo. Frans Maas is a huge transport and logistic organisation of Dutch origin.

Lillian

is a certified pharmacist. She is living in Hønefoss with her husband Espen and their daughters Ingrid and Sarah.

The City

Gjøvik

where Stig and Bibbi lives, is a city 120 km. north of the capital Oslo. Gjøvik was one of the sites in the 94 winter olympics with its ice skating facilities. From Gjøvik its 40 km. further north to Lillehammer where the 94 olympics was held. The population is about 25.000.

Ancestors

Tracing ancestors in Norway and abroad is taking a lot of hours. Places connected to Stig's ancestors are BERGEN, OSLO, SOKENDAL, RENDALEN, KRISTIANSAND and STAVANGER with the Surnames: Lindstad, Broch, Smith, Bjånæs and Birkeland.

My wife Bibbi's ancestors came from TORPA, NES and GRUE with the Surnames: Hansen, Hageberg, Skogen, Haavelsen. The last 2 names went to the US and I have yet to find those families who left Norway around 1881-1883.

I'm searching for the following names in the US:

Kristian Haavelsen b.1830 (father) left. 1882

Kristian Kristiansen Skogen b.1862 left. 1881

The following persons of the family left Norway 1883 >

Mari Olsdatter Vinjareie b.1833 (mother)

Ole Kristiansen b.1856

Andreas Kristiansen b.1865

Helene Kristiansdatter b.1853

Susanne Kristiansdatter b.1859

Kristiane Kristiansdatter b.1872

Marite Kristiansdatter b.1878

Kasper Kristiansen b.1874
