Life extension and entreprenenurial liberty go hand in hand.

To best extend our own lives we have to spread entrepreneurial
liberty to still more of the worlds population.

There are two ways to achieve more entrepreneurial liberty, one is
to join in still bigger travel and trade federations, like EU and
the North American Free Trade Association, and work to enlarge
these, and to remove protectionism within them and between these
and the rest of the world, unfortunately the existing federations
are quite protectionistic;

the other approach is to create freeports that instantly are free
and open to anyone, and then work to expand a federation of
freeports as a truly free travel and trade zone.

Independent of whether or not we join EU, I suggest that we also
establish new freeports in our biggest cities and along our coast
line. Each a square mile or so in size and each either linked to
an international airport or to a harbor, or both.

We could also center new freeports around retired and rebuilt oil
plattforms or on cruiseships in international waters off the coast.

We could create some freeports that are linked to the United
States, and others that are international and open to anyone, and
if our country does not join EU, we could at least create a few
freeports that join in our place.

The idea is that we create some freeports from which people can
reach EU without having to go through customs, other freeports that
can be reached from the United States by a domestic flight from the
latter, and some freeports that absolutely anyone can enter without
a passport, visa, work permit and without having to go through any
customs check.

We could cluster freeports, one linked to EU, one linked to the
United States and one international and link these to surrounding
local industrial parks, so to ease travel and trade between the
blocks.

Each freeport could be chartered to offer constitutional protection
for entrepreneurial liberty including the individual autonomy of
each of its citizens.

The freeports could be set up as independent states that then apply
to join EU, the US or a new international free travel and trade
federation. Or some of the freeports could be set up as extended
embassies of EU, the US, the UN or our own country. Or special
trade agreements could be made that open our freeports to specific
markets.

We could even trade freeports with other federations in return for
a few freeports in warmer climates. Norwegian run freeports and
vacation retreats as extensions of our own embassies around the
world might be a wiser investment than foreign aid ever was.

In the freeports here and abroad, we could build new compact cities
where living quarters, offices, production facilities, stores and
entertainment, all are within walking distance of one another.

By replacing zoning laws with fire proof construction, good sound
proofing and strict treatment of pollution as a form of criminal
trespass, we can create a truly entreprenenurial society where each
suite owner is free to remodel and use his or her own property in
any way that doesn't physically enter onto any neighboring
property.

New compact cities are a free and environmentally sound alternative
to zoning and urban sprawl. We would waste less time and fuel
commuting, and we could handle large population influxes while at
the same time freeing up large areas for parks and wilderness
between the freeport clusters.

If we stopped pouring foreign aid into bottomless hell holes around
the world and instead invested our money in compact cities in new
local freeports, where we have taken the steps to set up strong and
rights respecting police forces that can protect the investments
against anarchy, tribal conflicts and government looting, then we
could get a return on the investments, and afford to reinvest in
still larger projects.

If we showed that we could profitably offer morgages to refuges on
suites and condominiums in freeports, we might even attract foreign
investments, and create a whole new investment market.

Jefferson had his land reform and home steading, that enabled lots
of people to become land owners. We could create something similar
by building new compact cities with lots of private suites that
refugees can get morgages on.

If we build it all so that it is easy to remodel and run profitable
ventures out of all the suites, then we have increased the chance
that the buyers will be able to pay off the morgages.

If we build long highrises where every floor is a wide mall
surrounded by private suites, and then offer morgages to refugees
and let the owners be free to remodel, live and run businesses out
of all the suites, then we have laid the infrastructure for a
society it will be easy to prosper in.

By creating high growth, high rise freeports we could open these
to all refugees, and everyone else that want to live in a free
society, and it wouldn't in any way threaten the protectionists
outside the freeports, nor cost them a penny.

If we establish the freeports near our existing road tunnels the
new cities can be built close to these tunnels, and the latter can
easily be upgraded for emergency use as state of the art blast and
fallout shelters, and be kept ready through annual survival drills.

Personally I would focus on building a network of life extending
medical clinics and advanced life extending hospitals in freeports
around the world.

It has been my goal for a long time to create a society where I
could be free to organize the most life extending ventures without
having these twarted by immigration officials, zoning officials and
other life threatening bureaucrats.

Freeports would offer scientific and entrepreneurial liberty and
be a way of stemming or even reversing our country's brain drain.
By offering entrepreneurial liberty we could easily attract foreign
brains and venture capital.

The United States and Hong Kong, both used to be free travel and
trade zones where anyone were welcome. Evil protectionism has since
raised its ugly head both places. If the United States is tired of
carrying the torch of liberty, I am sure that some other country
would like to take over the franchize and reverse the brain drain.
It is high time that we once again create a truly free society
where everyone is welcome.

Freeports could be made an environmentally sound growth industry
taking over from our oil and gas production as the latter declines.
We have the technology to prefabricate, ship in and lift in place
large structures, why not retool it slightly to build new freeports
that can be thowed or shipped around the globe?

If our population will not join EU, then I suggest that we at least
create free ports near each of our larger cities so that those of
our industries that are dependent upon joining EU, can set up
offices and production in local freeports that do join.

Some of the strongest EU supporters might even want to relocate to
such freeports so that they could run for European offices.

And even if we join EU, it would be of value to create a few
freeports that can maintain close ties to the United States or to
the rest of the world, so that those of our industries that are
dependent upon the U.S. or the world market, wouldn't be caught on
the wrong side of a trade barrier between EU and other countries.

The advantage of local freeports is that jobs stay here!

Creating freeports is also a way of healing the rift in our country
between those pro and con the European Union. And those pro and con
immigration, and those pro and con scientific and entrepreneurial
liberty.

Why make everyone conform to one totally regulated society, when
we can benefit so much more by creating a few freeports where
people can get a chance to fail or succeed on their own?

By creating freeports we could offer a lot of liberty to those who
desire, appreciate and know how to use this, and without being a
threat to the rest of the population.

Rather than forcing entrepreneurial liberty upon a whole country,
or upon a population that in large parts doesn't want it or
understand it but fears it,- it is much friendlier to build a few
freeports, that then by becoming prosperous, will induce the rest
of the country to gradually follow in their foot steps.

--
And on a personal note: Next after joining EU, or setting up office
on a cruise ship in international waters, creating a few freeports
is the easiest way I see for being able to freely organize life
extending ventures and to do so over a large area, without applying
for or sanctioning passports, visas, work permits quotas or other
life threatening protectionist atrocities.

Who knows, I might even use freeports as a spring board, to tear
down the protectionist barriers around the United States, so that
I can travel freely between my beloved Boulder and the rest of the
world.

Long life,
